Our Church Groups

Coffee after mass - a happy community gathering
Coffee after mass - a happy community gathering

The Parish operates a diverse range of active church groups all run by a team of enthusiastic and passionate volunteers. From music and toddler groups, to rosary groups and flower teams, there are many ways that you can get involved and contribute to our vibrant community.

Music Group

The English Martyrs music group embraces all types of music from traditional organ to modern contemporary styles, and welcomes new talent and enthusiastic members. We are always on the look out for new singers and instrumentalists for Sunday masses and for special performances at Easter and Christmas.

If you would like to find out more, please contact Tony McLoughlin or Andrew Rogers

Mums & Toddlers Group

The Mums and Toddlers Group is aimed at pre-school children and babies and is held in the church hall at our sister church St John the Evangelist, Wallingford. It takes place on Mondays between 10am and 11.30am during term time. The group serves both Parishes and provides an opportunity for coffee, chat and play.

Cleaning Team

We are always looking for volunteers to give up some of their time during the week to clean the Church. If you think you can spare some time please contact Pat McLoughlin via the Parish Office.

Flower Team

Volunteers are welcome to help prepare the church flowers ahead of the weekend masses. Flowers are prepared on Fridays so if you think you can help please contact Ethel Newynskyj via the Parish Office.

Rosary Group

The Rosary Group meets on the first Thursday of each month at the Church at 2pm and new members are very welcome. The Rosary helps keep in mind the events or mysteries in the history of the Roman Catholic salvation and helps thank and praise God for this. There are fifteen mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary and these are divided into the five Joyful Mysteries, the five Sorrowful Mysteries and the five Glorious Mysteries.

MASS WELCOMING TEAM

We are always looking for volunteers to act as ‘welcomers’ before Mass. This simply entails greeting people as they enter the church, and handing out hymn-books. If you think you could help, please contact Camilla King via the parish office.
