English Martyrs and St John’s Pastoral Council

The Parish Council works closely with Father David
O’Sullivan, sharing pastoral responsibility across our two
Parishes. We devise and support activities which bring our
two parishes together and nurture a lively community spirit.
We aim to respond to the needs of both Parishes and as
such our work is often dictated by the feedback we get from
our open meetings, the AGM held at the beginning of each
year, and comments made from each meeting. We are constantly
working to improve our response to be a community for Christ
in Didcot and Wallingford.
You can read about the latest discussions from the Parish
Council by checking the minutes on the notice board which
are posted shortly after each meeting. We also welcome ideas
for agenda items – details of how to submit ideas and for
information on meeting dates, please check the weekly
newsletter.
Some of our most recent and regular activities include:
- Organising a Lent programme of activities to ensure
there is something for everyone in the Parish to help
prepare for Easter, including children’s activities, Lectio
Divina and gospel reading, and Stations of the Cross
- Recruitment and training for Special Ministries
- Planning days of recollection
- Supporting the Churches Together communities in both Didcot and Wallingford
- Planning social events and activities

The Year Ahead
This year we aim to:
- Support our Parishes through what promises to be a
period of change for us and the Pastoral Area. We will
work closely with our Special Ministry Coordinators to
provide them with support and enable them to become more
actively involved in the changes taking place
- Communicate the changes and what they will mean to
our Parishes
We look forward to keeping you up to date with these
activities and more in the coming months on the website.
