St John’s Music Group

The music group has been established for many years,
growing and developing from a small nucleus in 1989 to a
robust group of musicians and singers, with ages ranging
from 8 to 60 plus, at the present day.
In 2009 the group is fortunate to have two guitarists,
two flautists, one bass guitarist and an organist, as well
as ten singers, giving the congregation a mixture of modern
and more traditional music.
The group provides music and singing for every Sunday
morning Mass, as well as special occasions. For the last two
festive seasons the musicians and singers have organised a
Christmas Carol Service, combining the usual variety of
music as well as unaccompanied four-part pieces for soprano,
alto, tenor and bass.

We practice on Friday evenings in St John’s Church Hall,
our function being to prepare for Sunday Mass, but also to
have fun with our music and enjoy the spirit of friendship
that exists between us all. We are open to all age groups,
regardless of musical talent, and welcome newcomers who wish
to share our love of music.
