Our Youth

Hi from the youth group
The English Martyrs, Didcot and St John's,
Wallingford Youth Group was set up by
Phyllis Green in 2007 to encourage those young
members of the worshipping community of both
parishes over the age of 10 to continue to be
involved and keep an interest in the church.
The team of leaders, all CRB checked, plan and
run once a month activities with the help of the
youth group members' input. These are generally run
at St John's, Wallingford on the fourth Friday of
the month between 7pm and 9pm but are from time to
time run elsewhere. Previous activities have
included:
- First Aid course
- glass etching and craft
- a visit from a Police Community Support
Officer to talk about policing in the community
- pizza and quiz night bowling
- a visit from a team at Didcot Baptist Church
who gave a talk on a building project in South
America
- murder mystery
- treasure hunt
- weekend away with families in 2008 at the
Celebrate Conference in Bristol
- silly games evening
Refreshments are provided most evenings.
At the end of each evening the following Sunday's
Gospel reading is read and discussed followed by
prayers.

The latest meeting of the Youth
Group was a Silly Games and Pizza Evening - great
fun was had by all.
The Youth Group of St John's and English Martyrs
Churches

organised a Carol Concert with mince pies, to thank
parishioners for their support over the past year.
