Baptismal Programme
We offer preparation evenings followed by a Mass of
Presentation prior to Baptism for new parishioners and
followers of the Roman Catholic faith.
Baptisms are normally held on the third Sunday of the
month. For more information please contact Therese Webster
on 01235 527318.
Children’s Liturgy
Our programme of children’s liturgy runs during the
9.30am Sunday Mass, with a special children’s Mass on the
first Sunday of the month during term time. Separate
sessions operate for two age groups – 4-7 years and 8-9
years. Children aged 4 need to be accompanied by a parent
but once they are 5 they may come unaccompanied.
For newcomers, please fill in a consent form which can be
found at the back of the Church and hand it in to one of the
leaders on Sunday before your child attends.
We are always in need of new leaders and helpers for our
children’s liturgy rota, even if this is only for one Sunday
in a term we would welcome your help. Please contact Andy or
Joan Williams on 01235 554807.
Confirmation Programme
The Parish prepares adults and young people to receive
the Sacrament of Confirmation. Young people should be at
least 13 years of age and take part in a preparation
programme lasting up to 6 months which includes learning
sessions, one or two full days of preparation and possibly
an away weekend.
For more information or to register for Confirmation
please contact Celia Smith via the Parish Office on 01235
559754.
First Holy Communion
The Parish prepares children from year 3 school age
upwards for First Holy Communion and First Reconciliation
each year, supported by a group of catechists from the
Parish.
First Holy Communion is usually celebrated in June each
year and the preparation classes are held on Saturday
mornings from January onwards. Parent meetings start in
November and new catechists and helpers are always welcome.
Please contact Carole Sawyers on 01235 203459.
Know the Faith Group
The group is a cross between a prayer group and a
discussion group. It has currently 8 members and meets in
members’ homes on alternate Fridays, starting at 8 p.m. with
the Evening Prayer of the Church (Vespers), continuing with
a discussion on some aspect of our Catholic Faith and ending
with Night Prayer (Compline).
Most members stay for coffee and biscuits. We aim to pray
together and deepen our knowledge of the Catholic Faith we
profess and practise, while avoiding the pitfall of becoming
a mere 'academic' discussion group. The group has been in
existence for many years and takes on the character and
needs of the current members. At present we are studying the
New Catechism.
For more information please contact Angela or Mike
Moreton-Smith via the Parish Office on 01235 559754.
RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation
The Journey in Faith is the way in which we introduce and
welcome new adult members into the Catholic community in the
Parish.
The period of inquiry normally begins in September and at
Easter we celebrate adult baptism and full reception into
the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil.
For more information please contact Father Tom Taaffe via
the Parish Office on 01235 559754.
