Fun and games at our joint parish
BBQ on 26th June. A big 'thank you' to all who
made it such a successful event. Great fun was
had by everyone, and the weather was even kind to
us!

English Martyrs Church organised
the Churches Together Didcot and District Walk of
Witness on Good Friday, in Didcot's Orchard Centre.
Thank you to all those who gave their time to help
at this event.

Congratulations to Des Healy on
his inauguration as Mayor of Didcot. Our
prayers and best wishes go with Des as he undertakes
his new responsibilities.

RISE Theatre
Thank you to RISE Theatre for
providing over 200 people with their wonderful
thought-provoking performance of 'Soldier to Saint'
on 10th April at English Martyrs Church. A
great evening was had by all.
October 2013
JEMS (English Martyrs and St John's Youth Group)
Beetledrive
The Youth Group was set a challenge by CAFOD's Ben
Oldham to turn £10 into £100,
and decided to run a Beetledrive for parishioners,
with tea and cakes.
The event proved very successful, with around 30
people attending a fun and lively evening.
A total of £170 was raised for CAFOD! Thanks
to all for support given.

Kenya Children Centres
Thank you to the parishioners of
St John's and English Martyrs who contributed a
total of £422 to the Lenten Coffee mornings, which
has been donated to the Kenya Children Centres, who
provide a home for orphaned girls.

traditional blessing on Holy Saturday, bringing food
which made for a colourful display.

Weekend
Parishioners from our parishes attended a
spiritually refreshing retreat weekend at the
Carmelite Priory, Boars Hill. Thanks go to the
Friars for hosting a wonderful weekend, and to
Barbara Thacker for organising this worthwhile
event.

A wonderful Christmas Lunch was
prepared by the Fundraising Team at English Martyrs,
especially for the senior members of the parish.
